Glitter Bay was originally the private domain of Sir William Cunard, the owner of the famous steamship line. In 1980, a 48 unit condo was developed by Mr. Pemberton along the northern edge of the property. This then became the Pemberton Princess Hotel, which was later purchased by the Fairmont Royal Pavilion next door
In 2004, the property was purchased by John Hargreaves who built a private mansion on the South end of the beach, thus leaving the beautiful grounds intact. The beach is reputed to be the best in Barbados.
The Glitter Bay Property
The architecture reveals a definite Spanish influence, with whitewashed walls and terra cotta roofs. All of the balconies face Southwest with an excellent view of the grounds, the sunset and our own family of Green Monkeys! The Sea Turtle condos both have excellent views of the sea. Glitter Bay is the only property in Barbados where the footprint of the buildings is only a small portion of the beautifully manicured grounds.
